Of course religion is important..but, I am a Malay first before I became a Muslim..Malay and Muslim is different in meaning. But, the first gist that people come to see that a Malay is exactly a Muslim. The truth is not actually like we are expected a Malay could be a Muslim. Malay is a race where Muslim is a religion. People talk the Malay language, practice a Malay lifestyle and also exercise the custom of Malay. It means that, the dress in Malay, eat Malay cuisine and also lives in a house as a Mlay used to live. But then, Muslim itself is a religion. It is a religion with the rules and regulation. Once a person declared that he is Muslim, then he ought to follow all the rules and regulation that has been stated in Muslim religion. He have to act based on code of moral value of a Muslim. His life also has to be based to the Islamic revelation. Thus, Muslim is a religion that teach a human to be a good human being. A Muslim have to do all the good deeds and to leave all the bad rthings. For sure a Muslim has to worship Allah SWT as the creator of him all the entire world. To worship him is to do all the ibadah that a Muslim supposed to do, have a good morality, have a strong faith in Muslim and have to be a good in all aspect and make sure he leave all the don’t’s. a muslim also have to follow and make prophet Muhammad pbuh as a guideline in shaping their morality and in every act in their life. A Muslim should prepare themselves with the iman to live in the world and in the hereafter. But, being a mAlay is not means that he’ll be a Muslim. One said that “of course religion is important, but I am a Malay first before I became a Muslim”. For those who saying that, it shows that he is totally wrong. To became a Malay, he has to be Muslim first. Many peole too view that our race show our religion. For instance, a Malay man could always claimed that he is a Muslim. But, the question is, does he practice the Muslim way of life? For surte he know that religion is important, but he just ignored it because they think that race come first than religion. They do whatever they want and neglect abiut religion. Being a Malay, he can speaks malay, but does he know to recite quran? They can talk the language of their race, but do they knoe to talk in their religious language? The quran is the one that contains everythimg about Muslin religion. But, unfortunately many Malay don’t know to recite it. They did’nt interesred at all in reciting quran. They give a lot of excuses. Then, he eat Malay cuisine. But does he knoe how to eat according to Muslim religion and teaching? Of coure they will eat halal food, but do they recite doa before eating and even after eating? Do they eat in proper way like our prophet Muhammad pbuh eat? Not all Malay people could practice it. Then, a Malay man also could write in Maly language. But then, a question is asked again whether they know how to write in Quranic language? Its not essential for people to know it, but what I want to stress here is that, being a Malay is not mean that he is Muslim. But, for those who love, those who have strong faith in Muslim religion, they will realize that Quranic language is a beautiful language that they should know and learn. That’s why I’m stressing here that being a Malay first doesn’t mean that he would be Muslim. Then, solah is the base of Muslim religion. Without solah, the person would be nothing. But, from my observation, not all Mlay perform the five times solah per day. They don’t take seriously. They seems like don’t afraid of the punishment and sin. Being Malay, they think that enough for them to behave like Malay. But, being a Muslim, they have to br obedience to the religion. Living in the new age of glabalisation, it makes us face many challenges. There are a lot of clubs, discos, karaoke centre and even prostitution occurred in our country. And unfortunately, many Malay are involved in this kind of bad things. If we read newspaper, there are a lot of people who have been caught in raid at the club are Malay. They are alcoholic and also taking drugs. Is that the way Muslim teach the people to do? But Malay do that. They don’t realize the sin and the punishment. And once again, a Malay is should not a Muslim. Then, the crime happaen everyday. Malay also involved in the crime such as robbery, rape, stealing, killing and incest. What happen to the Malay actually? Are they don’t have the awareness and aren’t they cautious about the punishment they can get? Muslim does not encourage and permitted all those bad things to the people. As a conclusion, in my point of view, a Malay shouldn’t be a Muslim. Religion come first, then only the race could be practice. A person who is good in religious knowledge would be someone who have good of attitude. Lastly, someone should be Muslim first before being a Malay
