Some Malay tends to choose their race first before their religion. For example, there are more applying the Malay tradition or ethics rather than applying what have been stated in the al-Quran. But as long as what the Malay applying are not wrong they can still continue with it. Race is happen to be important than religion because we are Malay and we have been taught with the Malay tradition since we are small and we feel that we are already have a strong bond with it. Race does come first when we are in Malaysia. In Malaysia, people have their own perception that they think every Malay is Muslim.

In my opinion, religion does come first before race because with religion we are strong as a Muslim, we have our own identity and people surrounding will respect us more. For example during the Chinese New Year celebration, the Chinese people understand that they should not serve any illegal food to the Muslim and keep their dogs away. Usually they will serve the fast food such as Pizza Hut or KFC for their Muslims friends. The same goes to the Indian people when we are visiting them for the Deepavali festival. Almost of them have known about our religious practice. As a Muslim when we have our own identity we become stronger. We are the one that will bring the good name of our religion to our children in the future.

On the other hand, some people may said that race is important than religion because without race we are weak and easily to be attack by other races. We are belong to Malaysia and we are the majority. Malay custom shows that we are unique and very special to every people all around the world. Tourists are attracted to our custom and they love to learn from us and make more research on that. However, they must realize that with religion they all are unite. Majority Malay in Malaysia are Muslim and through religion that can unite them all together for example during fasting month, Friday prayer, forum on Islamic Knowledge and others.

For conclusion, it does not matter which one that we choose but the most important is think first before we take any action. Think what is the best for our life, what will happen to our children in the future and what will our religion face in the future.
