Counselors are the key to the success of the One Malaysia concept.

One Malaysia concept was introduced by our Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Abdul Razak on 3rd April 2009. One Malaysia concept is about a vision of justice for all. The two paramount cardinal principles underlie in One Malaysia concept is to inculcate the sprit and values of togetherness and a sense of belonging among Malaysians, regardless of race, religion and creed. According to the One Malaysia concept Prime Minister reiterated that he will make sure that the future policies formulated by the government will be focused on people centric or people’s interest at heart.

According to the definition of One Malaysia concept, counselors are the key to the success of this concept. This is because counselors are well train to understand people that come from different cultural background. Using their skill of the cross-cultural counseling, counselors can influence the society to accept and follow this concept. For example, using this skill counselor can help everybody to understand different cultural background and to accept that everyone need and have the same opportunity to get what ever they want same as other races. Counselors also can manure values of togetherness between all of the races.

Moreover, with the personality that every counselor has it can make people more trust and easy to follow what ever the counselors said. People are more respect to the counselors because they are considering as a very nice person and understand all the people. So, it shows that counselors are the key to the success of One Malaysia concept. Besides that everybody belief that counselors will not make people harm, so if the counselors said that One Malaysia concept is a good concept and help all of us get same opportunity in every aspect in terms on education, economic, politic and so on, all the society will accept this concept because they trust to the counselors.

Unfortunately, although all the counselors are well train with the skill of cross-cultural counseling it doesn’t mean that counselor can change people perception. Everybody have their own stand whether to accept or not this concept. If the counselor has a very strong skill to influence people to follow what they are saying, this will not happen if everybody doesn’t want to change their perception. Besides that everybody in this county have their own history according to previous time which is tragedy of 13 Mei whereas Malay, Chinese, and Indian are fighting each other, because of this history it is difficult to get them together. Hence, it show that even though the counselors have a strong skills of cross-cultural counseling they still can not change the perception of all people in this country.

Moreover, counselors personality are not the main reason people will change their perception. Even though they are respect and trust the counselors but their perception will not chance because everybody have they own right to stick on what ever they think is right. Counselors are not the key to the success of One Malaysia concept because to make sure the concept will apply smoothly, all the politicians including oppositions have to see eye to eye to accept this concept than all the society will follow them. Counselors is only the small agent in this society so they are not the key to make sure that One Malaysia concept will be successful implement.

In conclusion, everybody has their own opinion to say whether counselors are the key to the successful of One Malaysia concept or not. Who are the key to make sure this concept is success is not very important but the important thing is by implementation of this new concept, hope that every body will get same opportunities in every aspect without any bias and it also appropriate according to the previous history of our country.
