Violence refers to a violation of a person’s physical and civic rights as well as his/her psychological or personal integrity. They are so many things that can be said as violence such as sexual harassment, hazing, physical assault rape, murder and so on. Counselor is the second person in school that has their own power. Counselor can do anything in school to make the school become good and successful. The above statement is not right because all of us know that counselor is the person who has ability and responsibility to make sure social problem in school can be reduce or decrease. Yes, some counselors cannot handle social problem in school because they are lack of training or they are just take for granted about the social problem that occur in the school. But most of the counselors in all schools do their job effectively.

Counselor can help to reduce violence in the school among other races because students are having more time in school rather than in their home. This means, they are in school beginning in the morning and finish in the evening. In the morning they have normal classes and in the evening the have curriculum. Yes, that is true that students also have more time in home but after they go back to their house they just eat, rest, do homework, sleep and may little bit conversation with family. Most of the students experienced the same thing. In the school they are more in activity rather than sitting alone. So, here counselor must do her role to instill love among all people in school no matter her race, colors, wealth, status and so on by create and plan the strategy to reduce the violence in school.

As a counselor, to help reducing social problem in school alone is very difficult. Counselor need to ask other teachers help and cooperate with them to plan and create activities to the students. They can create more activity at the time of curriculum. The teachers that are given responsibility to handle the society must do the activity that can make the student sit in a group that has variety of cultures and races. It is to help them talk and communicate each other. From this kind of activities, the students will know their friends better even though they are from different races and cultures. They can throw away the bad impression towards other races. Teachers cannot be biased to look on their race first. It can make the students feel unfair and they will have bad impression towards the teacher and teacher’s race. Students always follow the attitude of his/her teachers. That is why teacher is one of the important people that can mould students’ behaviour. It is because students have more time in school so counselor and teachers can plan activities about any program that can make all student together such as program about ‘1 Malaysia’. Counselor can give a talk about the effect of violence in all aspects of human life and interesting activities to make the students interested to join and want to have followed up activities. From here school and teacher can help to reduce violence in school and outside school.

Besides that, the most important thing is cooperation from other institution. Counselor must have cooperation with all school staff, teachers, principal, parents, NGO’s and students. Counselor cannot just work alone. It is because support from other can help the programs that have been planned run smoothly and effectively. Counselor also can have programs to the parents and students. It is to help them to throw away their bad impression towards other races. NGO can help counselor in term of financial support, give talks and so on.

Some people said that, counselor cannot do anything to reduce the violence in school among other races because people do not trust on the counselor and counselors do not have ability to handle the cases of many races. However, they must bear in mind that counselors are well-trained people to handle all cases that happen in school. They studied for many years to help the students and school to solve/reduce the social problem. The principal and teachers should give full trust to the counselor so that the counselor can do his/her job effectively because of the support and trust.

For the conclusion, all people should be together and unite to solve and control the problem of youth nowadays that become wider. We cannot just put blame on others. If we are still fighting and blaming each other, the violence and social problem can become worst and the social problem in Malaysia will increase and will be more difficult to solve it.
