“VIOLENCE IN THE SCHOOL IS A RESULT OF DIFFERENCES OUTSIDE SCHOOL. WE AS COUNSELORS CAN’T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT”. DISCUSS……

Violence can simply defines as a violation of a person’s physical and civic rights, as well as his or her psychological and personal integrity. Violence can be weather during school sessions or after school sessions, meaning that in school or vice versa.
Regarding to the topic above, my final assumption that I’m strongly disagree that violence in the school is a result of differences outside school, and school counselors can’t do anything about it. This is because, besides the differences outside school, there is a lot of factors and reasons why students and teenagers nowadays, involved in violence, as well as to be a part of violence victim, especially it comes from the individual or students it self. For example, a student who are a violence victim of his parents in home are probably tend to bullying his friends in school, in order to release his depress to become a victim of violence.
On the other side, the media also can lead to the increasing the number of violence among students. Since, we were living in globalization world, there is a lot of higher technology matters that have been created that we didn’t expected before. In interactive media forms such as internet, computer and video games can be a major factor to lead the violence. Students who are likely to play video games are most probably to apply what they have in the game to the real one, as well as involved in violence. For instance, some of the game needs the players to kill the police in order to gain the marks. Once a player kills the police, marks will be given. So, as a result, students will apply that action outside the game and tend to bring a gun to school, and then shoot his friend in order to satisfied himself.
Furthermore, from my opinion too, the vital factor that violence happened in school is due to the lack and low security system in the school. Sometimes, we can see in rural school, there is no security guard security measure at all, or if any it just a part time guard. So that, students will expose to the danger and the possibility to become a violence victim is high. Then, I believe that there are a lot of factors that lead to the violence, beside the differences outside school.
Besides that, there is not an easy task for a school counselor to totally stop the violence in school but a counselor can assist to reduce it. For instance, a counselor can organize a program that teaches students on anger management skills as the need arises. Anger management skill is the process of learning how to calm down and diffuse the negative emotion of anger before it gets to a destructive level. Then, counselor need to teach how to manage anger, as well as can develop techniques to deal with and expel the negative response and emotions before it causes serious problems. So that, it will assist students to curb with their anger as well and can avoid them from express their bad feelings to others, as well as can avoid from violence.
On the other hand, in order to reduce the number of violence in school, counselor can organize a seminar that involved all parties, in terms of students it self, teachers, administrators, parents and societies as well. Then, counselor should tell them about the dangers of violence, which can be harmful, whether to themselves and the societies. For example, violence can create a sense of discrimination among races in our country. So that, counselor have to give a clear information about the negative side of involving in violence, in order to prevent it from causing any harm to all.
As a conclusion, since I will become a counselor soon, I’m strongly disagreeing that violence in the school is a result of differences outside school. This is because there are a lot of factors and reasons why students and teenagers nowadays, involved in violence. Besides that, I strongly believe that there is a way that counselor might do, even it can’t totally stop but it will assist in order to reduce the number of violence, as well as the number of violence victim. Besides that, worries about school violence should not be a barrier and interrupt the job that educators must perform in order to teach and guide students to be a better one on the future. However, the all parties in terms of teacher, parents, administrators and students it self must be cooperate and come together in order to make schools safe and free from any violence that might interrupt students in order to gain knowledge at school. Then, we also have to remain aware of the possibility that violence could erupt and happen everywhere. So then, we must strive to work together to create a safe environment for ourselves, especially for students and the next generations from a violence.
